Did You Know?

All Coaches and On Ice helpers are required to wear certified helmets during all practices. This includes all divisions. Chin Straps MUST be secured! Remember, you are setting an example all players.

All on ice personnel must be members of Ringette Alberta (registered players, parents and registered coaches). This ensures all participants are covered by insurance.

Due to health and safety risks, it is mandatory that athletes gloves stay on at all times on the ice. This includes during the customary post game handshake.

What do I need to know about RIS Activity Leader & Safe Sport?

Ringette Calgary requires team staff to complete Respect in Sport Activity Leader or Safe Sport. Safe Sport is FREE, RIS Activity Leader has a fee that is not reimbursed by Bow View Ringette. Completing Safe Sport instead of RIS Activity Leader is highly recommended. RIS Activity Leader is a different module than Respect in Sport PARENT. If you completed RIS Parent you will still need to complete RIS Activity Leader or Safe Sport if you are a team staff member on a team roster to meet the Ringette Calgary requirement. RIS Activity Leader is transferable from other sports using the import certificate link. RIS Activity Leader is valid for 5 ringette seasons from the first season of completion. Bow View does not reimburse for RIS Activity Leader.

Where and when are coaching courses available?

Coaching clinics are sometimes available in the summer but most courses are only available in the fall. All courses are through Ringette Alberta. Coaches seeking the CI course can complete their online course work immediately (it can take a number of hours) which will enable them to register for a clinic as soon as the dates and times are released. Coaches seeking CI that have not done their online work will not be able to register for clinics until their online work is complete.

First time coaches must complete the Coach Initiation in Sport e-module first. Register as a coach here to begin.

How do I apply for reimbursement of coaching courses?

Bow View reimburses for CSI, CI & MED (the $20 version only) offered through Ringette Alberta to a maximum of 3 coaches/team/season. Coaches will only be reimbursed for the courses that are required for the age division and tier they are on the team roster for in the current season. It is the responsibility of each coach to ensure they are taking the correct courses. Reimbursement instructions.

Coach Initiation in Sport e-module is typically free one week a year during National Coaches Week (typically the 3rd week in September). Other courses may be discounted or free during National Coaches Week. These courses may be mandatory or they may be courses that contribute to your professional points.
